Correction of breast asymmetry

Breast asymmetry can be very distressing and is correctable by a combination of one or more of the breast procedures that have already been described.

  • Augmentation with an implant
  • Reduction
  • Uplift (mastopexy) with or without an implant
  • A combination of the above

Careful consideration needs to be given to the indications for each technique and how this will meet your requirements. There are short and long term indications of all procedures and it may be preferable to accept an equal pair of slightly smaller breasts by reducing the larger breast rather than enlarging the smaller breast with an implant. Apart from the scars a breast reduction is a reliable and stable long term procedure without long term implications whereas the use of a breast implant does carry ongoing risks related to the implants which are described in the relevant section of this website.
